From the Manufacturer The Gardner Bender Ground Fault Receptacle Tester can be plugged into any outlet or GFI receptacle to read light patterns to detect faulty wiring in grounded receptacles and GFI receptacles. It also checks the functionality of the ground fault mechanism in GFI receptacles. The tester is designed for use with 110-125 volt AC receptacles. It is easy to use; simply plug the tester into any ground fault receptacle and push the black button to overload the circuit. It tests for seven conditions: ground fault interruption, open ground, open neutral, open hot, hot/ground reverse, hot/neutral reverse, and correct wiring.
